Become a legal advisor for the RLC

Anyone who wants to become a legal advisor for the RLC Berlin must first complete our one-year training cycle which begins each year in the winter semester and is held exclusively in German.* The different modules build on each other, that is why it is not possible to start the training cycle in the summer semester. Previous knowledge of asylum and residence law is not necessary, although helpful. When all modules up to the advanced training training lecture have been successfully completed one can apply as a legal advisor at the RLC Berlin. For the selected applicants the obligatory counselling workshop will take place in October where especially relevant information for the practice as a legal advisor will be conveyed during an intensive weekend.

*Exceptions to this rule can be made in individual cases. Those who already have sound experience in working with refugees and in the law on asylum and residence should please contact ausbildung@rlc-berlin.org with a brief description of their situation.

Being a legal advisor

in Berlin

Our legal advice is not a substitute for legal support. Through our free offer we reduce financial hurdles and provide low-threshold access to justice. In order to ensure the quality of our legal advise, all consultations are conducted according to the dual control principle. In addition, all our legal advisors are in close digital and personal contact with our legal supervisor, the attorney Anya Lean.
